Early 2024 Highlights

The first half of 2024 has not been dull. We have been selected to create a visual identity for the Sunshine Coast Biosphere, reflecting its commitment to harmony between communities and nature. We’ve developed branding and a digital presence for a startup buyers agency, and crafted a distinctive brand for Prolific, focusing on mindful consumption. We’ve photographed Queensland Reds Captain, Liam Wright and designed the branding and an animated marketing video. More detail below.

Mine Energy Solutions HDCNG Dual Fuel Solution Marketing Video

In October 2023, The Ageing Sea was tasked with creating an animated video for Mine Energy Solutions (MES). The video demonstrates emissions from three types of diesel engines, highlighting the benefits of MES's technology in reducing CO2 emissions and mitigating methane slip. Targeted at senior mining executives (engineers and managers) aged 40-60 in North and South America and Australia, the animation aims to convincingly showcase that MES can deliver lower emissions and lower costs through their innovative solutions.

Mine Energy Solutions

Mine Energy Solutions (MES) is a Brisbane-based tech company pioneering dual fuel solutions for mining trucks. Their patented technology uses fugitive methane gas to replace up to 70% of diesel, significantly reducing emissions and optimising energy efficiency. While using methane in diesel engines has historically posed challenges, MES's proprietary solutions have successfully overcome these issues, ensuring improved emissions performance across all stages of the process.

Prolific Brand Development

Late last year, we had the pleasure of reconnecting with Fiona Berkin, a client we originally worked with back in 2008. Fiona, once CEO of Morris Corporation (acquired by Sodexo in 2017), is now on a mission to transform human consumption habits and educate a global audience on the benefits of mindful consumption through social media.

Fiona approached us to create a brand for her new social enterprise, Prolific, which was inspired by a dream of a world where nature thrives abundantly alongside human activity in harmony. As with all our projects, we began with a brand discovery session to establish the brief and vision for Prolific. This step is crucial for gathering and distilling information to present back to the client for confirmation.

Brand Purpose and Identity

Given the nature of Prolific’s mission, developing and articulating the brand’s purpose was critical. The purpose needed to be clear and digestible, quickly conveying the essence of mindful consumption and its positive impact on the planet. Once the brand purpose and language were fine-tuned, we designed and developed the brand identity for Prolific.

The logo features rotating leaves within a yin-yang style motif, symbolising harmony, paired with a contemporary display font. This design reflects Prolific’s dedication to mindful consumption and ecological equilibrium. The tagline, "Consume Wisely. Live Abundantly," encapsulates this mission.

Brand Style Guide

With the brand identity approved, our team began work on the brand style guide and visual identity. The style guide included a comprehensive range of assets: logo, wordmark, badge, tagline, color palette, variations, usage guide, fonts, placement guidelines, icons, stationery, signage, merchandise, website, social media, presentations, and more.

To capture the essence of Prolific, we organised a photography shoot with Rikki Lancaster on Castaway Beach. The shoot focused on portraying Fiona’s profile and expanding the visuals for the website and social media marketing. The end results speak for themselves.

Website Build

With both written and visual content finalised, we moved on to building a simple yet effective website using Squarespace. The website included essential pages such as Home, About, Blog, Benefits, and Contact. Squarespace was chosen for its user-friendly interface, making it easy for the client to manage the site post-launch.

Next Steps: Social Media, Video Content & Launch

As we look forward to the next steps, we’re planning the launch of Prolific’s social media channels and video content to further promote the brand’s message of mindful consumption and ecological harmony. Stay tuned for the official launch.

About Prolific

Exciting News: Our First Project with Sunshine Coast Regional Council!

We are thrilled to announce that The Ageing Sea has won its first project with the Sunshine Coast Regional Council. This exciting opportunity involves creating a visual identity for the Sunshine Coast Biosphere, a UNESCO-recognised international site of excellence.

Project Brief: Sunshine Coast Biosphere Visual Identity

The goal is to develop a visual identity that tells the Sunshine Coast Biosphere's story, connects with the audience on a deeper level, and builds trust and loyalty around the brand. The Sunshine Coast Council, in partnership with the Biosphere Coordinating Committee and the Community Advisory Group, administers this initiative.

What is Visual Brand Identity?

Visual brand identity is how brands shape perception and create impressions through visible elements of their brand image. It combines graphic and visual components that make a brand instantly recognisable and unique. This includes everything from your company name and marketing materials to social media posts and email templates. A strong visual identity and consistent brand design elements are crucial for elevating a brand experience. This encompasses logos, color palettes, typography, animations, and graphic design, all working together to create a cohesive and unique brand story that customers associate with your products and services.

What is the Purpose of Visual Identity?

The purpose of visual identity is to convey who you are, what you stand for, and why customers should be loyal to you. Visual elements like logos and product designs are powerful forms of communication that represent and differentiate your brand in a crowded market. Through visual branding, you show customers who you are, what you’re about, and why they should engage with your products and services. Strong visual branding connects customers to your brand story and services, shaping brand perception and expressing your brand personality. Consistent and creative brand assets help establish a cohesive aesthetic, prompting brand recognition and recall. Behind every great brand is a compelling story, and while visuals grab attention, stories involve people.

The Street Branding & Website Design

We were thrilled to be referred to Cat Vulich from The Street Buyers Agency to create the brand and digital footprint for her startup property buyers agency. Here's a look at the comprehensive process we undertook to bring The Street to life.

Brand and Brief Discovery

Our journey began with a 2-hour brand discovery session. This session was pivotal in understanding Cat’s vision for The Street Buyers Agency and crafting a detailed brief. We used this time to develop content for marketing and to get a solid grasp of the brand's identity and goals. After the discovery session, our team distilled and collated the findings, which we then presented to Cat for feedback. This collaborative approach ensured that the foundations of the brand were aligned with the clients vision and objectives.

Brand Style Guide

With the foundational elements confirmed, we started working on The Street’s branding. This included defining the brand’s purpose, language and voice, and designing the logo in various formats (landscape, stacked, etc.), color palette, and fonts. All these elements were meticulously packaged into a comprehensive brand style guide, providing a clear and cohesive direction for all future communications.

Photography Shoot

While finalising the brand elements, we directed and produced a 2-hour photography shoot with Rikki Lancaster. The shoot aimed to capture Cat in her natural environment, showcasing her professionalism and approach as a buyers agent. These images played a crucial role in visually representing the brand across various platforms.

Website Design

With both the written and visual content complete, we moved on to building a simple yet effective website using Squarespace. The process involved setting up the plan, admins, and company details, and then building out the pages for Home, About, Process, Blog, and Contact. We carefully selected relevant photography, icons, and graphics to ensure the website was visually appealing and easy to navigate. Squarespace was chosen for its user-friendly interface, allowing small business owners like Cat to manage the website easily going forward.

Asset Distribution

After setting the website live, we finalised the Brand Style Guide and distributed master logo and design assets for internal use. This included business cards, a two-page flyer, and car signage, ensuring that The Street Buyers Agency had all the tools needed to present a consistent and professional brand image.

“Kyle did a great job on my website and branding. Nothing was too difficult! Friendly and approachable but professional at the same time. Easy to deal with. I'd highly recommend Kyle and his team to get your job done!”

Capturing Enever Coaching’s Holiday Rugby Academy with Liam Wright

The Easter School Holidays are the perfect time for kids to get outdoors and enjoy the sunshine. This year, we had the exciting opportunity to work with Enever Coaching, founded by Blake Enever (Wallabies, Brumbies, Reds), to capture their latest holiday rugby academy session.

Blake Enever invited us to document a special session featuring Queensland Reds Captain, Liam Wright, who led the kids through a series of rugby drills and activities. The session was a fantastic blend of learning, fun, and inspiration, as the young participants got to engage with a professional player and enhance their rugby skills. Capturing these moments helps in promoting such initiatives, encouraging more participation, and highlighting the positive impact sports can have on young lives.

We’re proud to have been a part of this event and to support Enever Coaching in their mission to develop the next generation of rugby players. Stay tuned for more updates and stories from The Ageing Sea as we continue to capture inspiring moments in sports and beyond.
